THE MENEFEE FAMILY

Our family has been farming in Miami County since the mid-1800's, and purchased the current "home farm" in the 1940's. Max's parents, Web and Dorrene, bought the current farm and lived there till the mid 1980's.  We have been involved in many aspects of agriculture including: dairy cattle, sheep, beef cattle, swine, row crops, and forage production. Max and Michelle currently live at the farm and enjoy the lifestyle. They operate a small farrow to finish swine operation, run cow-calf pairs, and grow corn and soybeans.  Michelle also serves as the custodian at their church in Paola.

John currently works at Paola High School as the agricultural education teacher and FFA Advisor. In 2012 he purchased another location, a mile south of the "home farm," where the purebred seedstock and showpigs are located. He graduated from K-State in December of 2009 with a B.S. in Agriculture and Fort Hays State in 2017 with a M.S. in Educational Leadership. He loves his job and enjoys working with pigs in the evenings and on weekends. He has developed a passion for the Hampshire breed and enjoys the challenge of trying to improve this breed. Working for Dr. Bob Hines at PrairieLand Genetics was a great opportunity to learn from one of the masters of the industry and he is one of our biggest mentors. John also runs a small cow herd and is a K-State Football season ticket holder. In May 2016 John got married to Miss Emily Starr. She grew up on an Agritourism Farm, Gary's Berries, and currently works as an Edward Jones Financial Advisor in Osawatomie. Miss Emily loves being in the farrowing house and checking cows. John and Emily have two kids, Makayla "Mak" and Tanner "Bubba", and we are expecting our third this spring.

Morgan, John's twin, works at Osawatomie Public Library as a Librarian and loves her job. "Sis" has degrees from Ottawa University, New Mexico Highlands University and Kansas State University. She helps with the showpig sale each spring and enjoys coming home to see the new baby pigs and calves. She has a daughter, Kiara, who enjoys showing pigs with Mak.

We feel honored to have been involved with the agricultural industry for so many years, and look forward to many more years of service. If you are ever in East Central Kansas stop by, we'd love to meet you.
